Keep an extremely low student to teacher ratio
Have only certified art and music teachers with degrees or who
have been in the educational system
Have a nutritionist and a CPR-trained teacher on site ALL DAY
WHAT WE DO NOT DO:
Employ teenagers looking for summer jobs with little to no
experience (why settle for teen counselors when we have
Monet and Mozart!)
Fill up the day with aimless activities because it is cheaper

Carolyn West, owner-operator of The
Little Red School of Art & Music in Stratford, Connecticut, has been teaching children art in her hometown since 1993. She has built a loving and magnificent art and music school largely by word of mouth, and her love of people (especially the little ones) permeates every aspect of the school, from the "decorated from the heart" building
where the school resides, to her choice of instructors, who give the entire school a sense of an extended and caring family.
Few schools enjoy this kind of reputation, and few artists care about children the way Ms. West has done, and continues to do.
